'Ashes' on this weeks episode of Rookie Blue
East Coast singer-songwriter's love song, 'Ashes', featured in ABC/Global hit TV show, Rookie Blue
For immediate release: August 29th, 2011
Fredericton, New Brunswick
If you tune into ABC or Global this Thursday at 10/9c for the cop drama Rookie Blue, you will hear the haunting vocals of New Brunswick singer-songwriter, Andy Brown, during a hair-raising, emotional scene from the series’ second season.
While Brown is known for his folk-pop anthems like ‘Crazy’, which placed him as a finalist in the International Songwriting Competition, and ‘Happiness’, the cheery tune that won Brown the North American-wide Test Drive 2010 competition, it’s Brown’s melancholy-filled love song, ‘Ashes’, that will lyrically narrate a scene in this week’s episode of Rookie Blue.
With a viewership of over 9 million in the US and Canada, Rookie Blue has a dedicated fan following and Brown is grateful for the opportunity to reach more people with his music.
“I think that the right music, the right actors and impeccable direction all lend to creating unforgettable moments on screen”, says Brown. “I’ve seen the clip and to hear ‘Ashes’ and see what’s happening in the scene, it’s overwhelming for me. I think people will have an emotional reaction when they experience this moment of script and sound,” explains Brown. “And it won’t feel real until I actually watch it on TV.”
Brown credits the East Coast Music Association (ECMA) for the events leading up to this Thursday’s song placement. Brown met with Vapor Music, the company that placed his music, at this year’s ECMA conference.
“Many of Andy’s songs would work nicely in television and film,” explains Su Hutchinson, ECMA executive director. “There’s a lot of heart behind those songs and you can hear it in his voice. I think that is the reason why people connect with his music. This Thursday will be no exception.”
Next up for Brown: more touring this fall and working on his next album.
“I’ve been writing with friends and fellow musicians for the past few months,” says Brown. “We’re all anxious to get into the studio in the new year. It’s the right time for a new record.”
